Jean Sibelius: Violin Concerto
Jean Sibelius: from Symphony No. 2
Edvard Grieg: from Peer Gynt

One Performance Only:
Wednesday, December 18, 2013

All proceeds benefit Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen

Don your most festive wool sweater, down a mug of spiced hot Glögg, and come celebrate the holidays with the mystical sounds of the North as One World Symphony takes you to icy forests, immense fjords and wildly beautiful terrain of Finland and Norway through the music of Jean Sibelius (1865–1957) and Edvard Grieg (1843–1907).

Ardently lyrical with tempestuously virtuosic solo passages, Sibelius’s only concerto is enough to keep anyone warm on a frigid December night. Ride the swelling drifts and waves of the Finnish landscape with Sibelius’s wind-blown mosaic in Symphony No. 2. Hear the sun rise over the mountains where the abandoned Solveig resolutely awaits the return of her love, Peer Gynt.

Celebrate the season of giving! Net proceeds from the concert benefit New York City’s largest soup kitchen, Holy Apostles, while One World Symphony gives you a break from the holiday madness.
