One World Symphony Mezzo-Soprano

1. Are any of your family members musicians? If so, what do they do?
My brother is a jazz musician in NYC. He plays all over Brooklyn and Manhattan. Alexander Levin is his name and his website is www.alexlevinjazz.com.

2. What has been the highlight of your One World Symphony career to date?
My performance of the FULL TITLE ROLE of Carmen. That was absolutely thrilling, and it was a SOLD-OUT PERFORMANCE. WOW!

3. What would you say is your favorite piece of music?
Mahler is pretty fabulous. His songs with orchestra blow me away. Songs by Rachmaninoff also touch my heart very deeply.

4. What's the best thing about One World Symphony?
Sung Jin Hong. His spirit, his amazing dedication, his incredible talent, his support of singers and his curiosity to always learn more. His orchestra blows my mind, and the fact that I get to sing with them is truly outrageous!

...And the worst moment (if any)?
Um, I actually do not recall any to date. I am very grateful for my One World Symphony experiences.

5. What music do you listen to in the car or subway?
Anything by Christina Aguilera, Rufus Wainright, Air, and Renee Fleming.

6. What is your favorite drink?
Starbucks decaf Sumatra, made at home in my Mr. Coffee, with three Splendas and half-and-half.

7. What was the most recent book you read?
The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri [apparently that's making the rounds... --ed.]

8. When you do have some free time, how do you relax?
I stare into space. I watch my cats. I watch Law & Order, SVU, or The Medium.

9. If you had the opportunity to time travel, when and where would you prefer to live?
I would like to live in Ancient Rome (as a person with power, and not as one of the lame plebeians). I’d also like to live in Plato’s Ancient Greece, and to watch the plays of Sophocles when the first were performed.

10. If you weren't a musician what would you be?
I’m working on that. Right now I am a fabulous yoga teacher at Om Yoga. I’m up for suggestions.

11. Why would you recommend to other musicians and public to participate with One World Symphony?
The orchestra rocks the world. You get to perform huge opera roles, in NYC, with orchestra!!! The people are all very nice. Sung Jin is awesome.

12. What are your hobbies?
Learning to knit. Shaving my head and dyeing my hair new colors. Yoga practice. Writing. Reading. Wow, I sound really boring to myself.
