Scandals: 2012/2013 Season
Feel the passion as One World Symphony blazes into its twelfth season of power, rapture, and suspense. Be tempted by Carmen, who ensnares men in her web of lust and transgression. Romeo and Juliet are tragically immortalized by their mutual obsessions. Othello’s unimaginable rage is propelled by his poisoned heart. Vivaldi tells us that divine love can save us from sin, but Oppenheimer demonstrates that our thirst for violence makes war our more likely fate. Blanche duBois’s fantasies and repressed desires steer her onto an irreversible collision course. This season's adventurous programs feature celebrated classics by Sibelius, Strauss, and Holst; showcase neglected gems by Scriabin, Schnittke, Amy Beach, and Alma Mahler; and champion works by living composers John Adams, John Corigliano, John Harbison, André Previn, Jordi Savall, Björk, Andrew Struck-Marcell, and Sung Jin Hong. Come get swept up in One World Symphony’s season of Scandals!
